    • Nothing much going on over here. Just more of the same. I'm halfway finished with painting Kadie's bookshelves. They take so long because you have to wait for each section to dry before you try painting the next and these are stackable cube-type shelves, so there's a lot of little sections. I also have to constantly dig cat hair out of the paint. I should just give in and plaster the cat onto a shelf and paint her down. It'd make for one bumpy shelf, but the cat hair issue would be gone...

    • We bit the bullet and made the switch. Between the electrical problems the Explorer was having (and the amazing lack of luck the technicians were having trying to find the source - no cynicism there) and the price of fuel with a 140-mile commute every day, we paid, up-front, for what we hope will be a smart move, financially, in the end. I got a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid. It's rated at 40 mpg in the city and 38 on the highway (more than twice the fuel mileage of either the Explorer or the FJ...

    • 300 (in theaters now)It's a war movie about the Spartans (and later, most of Greece) against the Persian Empire. It's not overly bloody as war movies go but people do die. There are also some minor plots to it, so it's not all about a bloodbath. Overall, it was the manner in which it was filmed that made this movie really stand out.The Holiday (on DVD)It's definitely a chick flick, but I enjoyed it.School for Scoundrels (on DVD)A comedy that suites Billy Bob Thornton well.Mom, I checked into...

    • Some recent film recommendations/warnings:Crank: not for the older crowd probably. Has some good parts, but probably only rates a B. Drug use and language.Troy: a retelling of the Iliad. It's been out for a couple of years, but we just now got around to watching it because it's just short of three hours long. A typical war movie - expect people to die, but nothing horribly graphic. They focus more on the storyline than the war shots. All in all, a good movie if you're into dramas. The Devil...

    • It's been a long couple of weeks and I think my body's trying to tell me"enough is enough." Though I don't want to tempt the fates, I will go so far as to say that I woke up this morning with a sore throat. I'm hoping it will fade as the day progresses, but I've been riding myself pretty hard these past few weeks so I wouldn't be surprised if I've run myself down enough to pick up one of the more than plentiful viruses that are going 'round. So far, every one of the east coast Todnems has...

    • I'm at work, so I can't be long-winded, but I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and send out warm wishes and positive vibes.Today's been going wonderfully so far. Time is flying and things have just been"working out" in my favor - nothing big, just enough little things that are obvious answers to my prayers and requests. It's amazing how well your day can go when you wake up and repeat,"Today's gonna be a good day."btw...Jeff and I have been taking some evening time to watch the series...
