    Warning

Posted by Dave on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 @ 11:52 AM

Lisa: You are not going to want to hear this, and if you are truly enamored, nothing I say will make any difference. But I'm going to go on record anyway. I did some checking on Visalus. I went to their website and watched about half their video until I got nauseated, but I also went to the scam warning sites and blogs and I urge you to do the same. This is simply a multi-level marketing scheme, similar to what Melody got into. In practice what that means is the only people who ever make any serious money at it are the ones who started the company and got in first. The more people who get in, the harder it is to make any money and those who make money do so by virtue of the fact that those under them are losing it. If they have a minimum monthly purchase of product, RUN the other way. Dr. Seidman apparently sells virtually the same products from both his own website ($23/month supply -MVI) and through retailers -- in competition with Visalus -- and he's the manufacturer.(bodylanguagevitamin.com)

These companies and their meetings are 95% motivational and 5% content. They are run by motivational speakers, not business types. Read about the history of this company and the principals who took their money and ran before the current leaders came to be.

If you feel the products are beneficial to you, wonderful. Buy all you can use. But do not (my strongest possible advice) get involved with this company. Stay in touch with your would-be upline and find out how they're really doing now and after a year.

Perhaps everyone has to go through something like this in their life and if so I hope your pain will be minimal. But please read some of the already-burned vs soon-to-be-burned blogs. (Visalus: it's too good to be real) They should be real eye-openers. You may have the abilty to "create" opportunities for yourself, but this is not one of them. Sorry.

I am aware that this is multi level marketing, and it is one of the reasons that I am not making an immediate decision...one of the benefits is that there is not a monthly minimum, or a request to stockpile product. There are incentives for doing well, bonuses, vacations, BMWS...but I think that you can do as much or as little as you want. I did not delve too far into more than the basic requirements of starting the business...although the cost of vitamins each month is dear. I would love to check out Dr Seidman's website, 'cause if I can get the same product for less money, then I would be ecstatic! I am not jumping on board with anything until I take these for a period of time to determine how I function long term with them. I know that the short term results are fabulous. Thank you for being the voice of reason...every good optimist needs one of those for balance!

As an added note...the people that are heading up and running this company are all young, VERY successful entrepreneurs that were hired for their incredible energy and expertise. The CEO of Visalus sold his first company at the age of 24 for 25 million dollars, and has had multiple successful companies since. He has been featured on CNBC, Donny Duetsch and other high profile shows to talk about his successes. The other key people running this company have been hired away from successful jobs with Proctor and Gamble, Johnson and Johnson etc. The people believe that the success of the company depends on hiring the best of the best. Their marketing and materials are REALLY terrific, and the do have lots of enthusiasm. I think that the video that Uncle Dave watched was one of the Visalus sales awards events, so there was lots of motivation and energy moving. I am certainly not having any intention of making this a full time job, but if I can improve someone's quality of life, it is a worthwhile day...and I am good at creating good things for people.
