    Urgent

    Jeff,

After a dinner party last night where the topic of personal information came up, I googled my name Dave Todnem and I found two individual posts from the blog on the internet. One was "Days of our lives or not" from 5-21-08, and the other was "Dear Verizon" from 6-7-08. They were both within the first 10 pages under my name. There was a minor reference to my and Melody's health in one which I don't want in general distribution. My own posts (or e-mails) are for only the people I select and usually contain information that is none of John Q. Public's business. I certainly don't expect to find them anywhere besides our own website and for that matter, while anyone can visit our website, I don't assume that just anyone can read just anything even if they visit.

If this situation is unexpected, please look into it and fix it post haste. If it is to be expected, then take us off the blog.

    Dave

It is my understanding that if you mark your posts as "Private" that members only can read them...otherwise the posts may be viewable by anyone that clicks on the website?? Is that right? I am not certain why anyone would visit the site that is not related, but who knows!

You're mostly right, Lisa. Anyone with internet access can Google a term (or your name, etc.) and, if it's in a Todnem blog that has not been marked as "Everyone: Private," they can see, and then click on the result to pull up, the blog.

The top three results in Google for Kadie Todnem are all from the Todnem website. If I wanted to remove Joe Schmoe's ability to see them while allowing the family to read to their heart's content, all I would have to do is mark the posts as Everyone: Private and Family: Read/Respond/etc.

Jeff has written about the permissions a couple of times now and has even posted a help document regarding them. Just do a search on our site for the word "access" and you should be get a lot more information/clarification.
