    • Kadie has a baby brother on her mind lately (we have clarified this a few times and her preference is definitely for a boy). A few days ago, Kadie asked us, out of the blue, when we were going to bring a baby home. Yesterday, at church, she told someone that she was going to have a baby soon - which, of course, prompted a questioning look my way. When I smiled and shook my head, the lady chuckled and told Kadie,"Good luck with that." I don't know what has prompted this most recent bout of baby...

    • Thank you to all for your birthday wishes. I had resolved not to celebrate these things anymore but, since everyone has conspired against me, I will resort to Plan B. You've seen those bumper stickers where it's"my kid's an honor student at such-and-such a school" and then the parents get"...again" stickers for subsequent honors, right? Well, I'm 29...again.I didn't leave work until a quarter after 6 am today (Saturday) so I got home around 7:30. When I got out of the car, I was promptly...

    • To all the fathers out there...we hope you had a nice day"off" yesterday. Jeff didn't get one as we were finishing up Kadie's play area, but we're taking Wednesday off to wander around town and/or the mall, get some breakfast and lunch and a movie. It'll be like an extended day date as we are unable to have dates during the evening or weekend hours. As I just mentioned, Kadie now has a beautiful play area out back. We put timber down around the swing set that Jeff and his dad put up last summer...

    • Nothing much going on over here. Just more of the same. I'm halfway finished with painting Kadie's bookshelves. They take so long because you have to wait for each section to dry before you try painting the next and these are stackable cube-type shelves, so there's a lot of little sections. I also have to constantly dig cat hair out of the paint. I should just give in and plaster the cat onto a shelf and paint her down. It'd make for one bumpy shelf, but the cat hair issue would be gone...

    • Better get this out (and, hopefully have it read) before our service gets cut off again. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you're having a wonderful day and have a nice weekend planned to celebrate this and Mother's Day. I always thought you got gypped on that; kind of like Michael being born on Christmas Eve. I was born in the middle of a nice dry holiday spell, so I'm good...though I've decided to stop celebrating my own birthdays so it's now a moot point, right? Your card is on the way, but it'll...

    • Does anyone else think Amazon is as wonderful as I do? It's like an online WalMart - you can find most anything you want (from groceries to books to furniture to trees) and they're cheaper than most other places. Maybe it's not as big for you guys since the family is concentrated over there, but I find myself using it quite a bit - especially around Christmas and birthday time (and for all those computer books that Jeff gets - those are usually at least 20 bucks cheaper than at Borders...

    • There are no little smiley faces blowing out birthday candles, but I'm sending you a mental one. Have a great day and do something extra nice just for yourself.

    • The east coast half of the Todnems are still alive and kicking (or should I say that we're a third now that we've extended our borders to another hemisphere?). Our latest winter storm was a nasty one. It wasn't the snow that caused the problems, though we got a good 3 or 4 inches up north where we live, it was the freezing rain and sleet that came with it. The next few days are calling for sun but temperatures remaining in the teens and twenties (to instantly freeze anything the sun might...

    • We're here. I know, I know. But flogging is against the law, so there.Actually, my unclass machine at work went belly-up on me about 3 weeks ago (if you look at the blogs, you'll find it an interesting timing coincidence). You see, unlike my husband, I cannot stand the sight of a computer once I get home. After 8 hours of dealing with them at work, I'd sooner throw my personal one out the window than spend more time in front of it. I used to get to work and, amidst checking out news headlines...

    • Hope you're having a great day! Our warmest wishes and thoughts are vibrating towards you.

    • I've been in a bit of a funk the past few days. I know exactly why, but that doesn't help. I can rationalize it all day long, but it simply boils down to the birthday. I've discovered that it helps a little to not think of myself as that age - that saying I'm 20-10 actually tricks my brain into thinking I'm still in my 20's and doesn't cause the knee-jerk where's-the-whiskey? sort of response in my mood. It's a band-aid fix, but one that I'm using for the time being to preserve my sanity. Let's...
