    Birthday

Posted by Peggy on Friday, December 07, 2007 @ 12:20 PM
One nice thing about home schooling is having a holiday on your birthday.
We are still without phone service and started getting more rain last night.  It looks like another rainy day, though not windy.
Violet put in an order for pancakes for breakfast and I made plans to take her to school today to share cupcakes with her friends.
I was going to ask if Amanda could sleep over, but without phones, I haven't been able to make the connection with her mom.  Yesterday when I stopped at school, I was told her little sister had missed two days of school due to illness, (Amanda is home schooled) so maybe it's better we weren't able to make the arrangements.
Grandpa Ed will be coming over tonight to share dinner and cake.
I'm hoping today we can get the tree up.  Between the weather, getting things back in order after our trip, school work, a trip to Coos Bay for shopping and the chiropractor, we just haven't got "a-round-tuit."  Violet has been asking for Christmas decorations everyday, so hopefully we can keep her busy enough that she won't miss having a party this year.  Since I didn't plan to be home for her birthday, I didn't plan a party or get a gift (one reason for the shopping trip) this year.
HeatherDawn, the first DVD is here and wrapped for Violet's birthday. I believe they said the second one would ship on the 11th, so it should be here well before Christmas.  Now if I can just get in gear and get my Christmas shopping started

    Home Again

    Hello from Powers
We arrived home yesterday evening, about 8:45, in the WIND and RAIN!  We drove though slushy snow near Mt. Shasta and arrived home during a hurricane, but had no problems.  The house was cold, but thankfully the electric blankets were working.  Richard started a fire and turned up the furnace.  BRRRRRRRRR
About 5:30 this morning, we lost our electric power and shortly thereafter, we lost our phone connection.  The power came back on about 9:30 AM but, the wind and rain continued for most of the day.  We got what was necessary out of the RV and Richard went out to clean out the plugged culverts.  Otherwise we have been inside, the house is warm again, but we still don't have any phone service.
The weatherman says the wind and rain should let up tomorrow - it's already much calmer.  At least the windows don't sound like they're going to blow out.
Violet wanted to start decorating for Christmas today, but I told her we'll have to wait a day or two, since all the stuff is stored in the shop.
It sure doesn't  feel like Christmas - we haven't even had Thanksgiving  yet, have we?
