    Weather or Not ?

Posted by Richard on Friday, May 16, 2008 @ 07:19 AM

Just received this email from Grandpa Ed:

All's well in beautiful Southern Oregon Yesterday temp was 90 Today 93 tomorrow Supposed to get warm tomorrow----------

    Dear Grampa Ed,

Just hang in there. We will be back Monday with the rain. We have managed to have mostly cloudy with several days of rain here, so they are well watered now. The forecast for MD. is for sunny weather to start Monday when we will be leaving. I'm thinking of a new business venture, Weather or Not Inc.. We could get paid by drought areas for rain or get paid to leave so people could have nice weather. Any investors???

Love from all of us Big Grin

    Prince Nerd King Sr.

Aaah yes, deeply imbedded in the computer underground, surfacing only to download a few more utilities links we find Prince Nerd King Sr. Following quietly in the footsteps of the awesome Nerd King, the Prince has been making great progress. With extreme skill and daring he has made an almost unbelievable recovery. Of course in order to recover, you must ask the question "From what"?
Well it seems that the Prince received a message from his magnificent all knowing computer. It needed a little more space in the C drive in order to operate properly. So, brilliant tactician that he was, Prince nerd said "No problem. I can fix that". All it takes is Windows Explorer and a quick click and drag. Move Quicken from C drive to D drive and Waallaa! space is made available. Well, it really was a good concept but it didn't work so good in reality. Actually Quicken didn't work at all. OK, no problem all we do is reinstall Quicken and problem solved. That would be true if it would reinstall, which it wouldn't. "Ok be that way" said the Prince, I will uninstall you with the Remove and Add programs directory and then reinstall on drive D where I wanted you in the first place". [Are you guys appreciating all of this technical jargon? hehe] So the Prince found Quicken on the list, clicked on Remove Program and got a big fat error message that it could not be removed.
Now this IS becoming a royal pain and the Prince is now thinking not so good thoughts about his semi magnificent, not so all knowing, computer piece of crap. After rethinking this original thought and deciding that it probably was not helpful to solving the problem the Prince went online to a Quicken forum and found other nerd princes that had similar problems. One even had a solution he could understand. It only required downloading three separate links and a few more hours of extreme pleasure to actually remove Quicken and reinstall it. While the Prince did return to his original thought several times, he has since worked through his issues with the all knowing computer and they are back on speaking terms. Just another example of all's well that ends well in the Nerd Kingdom.
