Just figured I'd post up a quick note and say hello to everyone out there. I don't know what everyone else's weather was doing this past weekend, but ours was beautiful. Well, to be more accurate, Sunday and Monday were beautiful. Saturday was rainy and overcast all day. But because we were home yesterday, it was really a three-day weekend for us. Temperatures were averaging around 70 degrees with very low humidity.
Kadie and I went out and washed the FJ just for an excuse to get outdoors. She wanted to help, but unfortunately her help consisted of using a stiff, bristled brush on the fender paint. Hmmm, not the best plan in my opinion. I tried getting her to apply her skills to the tires but she quickly lost interest. After seeing me cleaning the roof she decided
that was what she should really be doing. I tried explaining that she wasn't tall enough which I think resulted in more "fender brushing". Working on the wheels (her height) was fine for about a minute or two but she quickly grew tired of that. So basically, I spent most of the time alternating between washing the FJ and spraying Kadie with the hose (at her repeated requests). Of course once she got wet she started complaining about being cold. So I sent her in to get changed, at which point she promptly returned in dry clothes, asking to be hosed down again.

All in all it was still fun and got us both outside in the nice weather.
Yesterday we spent some of the time indoors, but during the afternoon we ventured back out again. We have several neighbors that have dogs, and since the yards aren't fenced, they tend to run from house to house exploring. This works great for Kadie since she loves dogs. We realize now that we no longer need to get a dog. Having neighbors with dogs is like grandparents having kids with grandkids. They can come over to visit and play for awhile, but at the end of the day, the responsibility falls back to the owners/parents. And so far, every time that Kadie has ventured outdoors, within just a few minutes, the smaller puppy from our closest neighbor comes running around. She loves it.
So we spent some of the time playing with "puppies" as Kadie calls them. We also added quite a few new designs to our front walkway using over-sized chalk which is always interesting. Kadie came around to the garage at one point with a sled and asked to be drug around, at which point I tried explaining the necessity of snow (and the obvious shortage of stated ingredient). She wasn't accepting my argument, adamant that we could indeed facilitate her needs regardless of any missing ingredients. Thankfully she let it go shortly thereafter, distracted by something else no doubt.
Due to the nice weather and the dogs being outdoors, several of other neighbors ventured outdoors as well. Unlike most of our previous home sites, I've found our current neighbors to be quite friendly and nice. With everyone on different schedules though, it can be quite difficult to meet and visit with them. So it's always nice when the weather improves because it gives you an opportunity to get together, even if just for a brief chit-chat.
So overall, it was a great couple of days, thoroughly refreshing in many respects. Depending on weather here, we have limited opportunities in which venturing outdoors is comfortable. So we're trying to take advantage of the early Spring weeks when it's still cool enough and the humidity is low. Hopefully everyone else had similar weather. If not, I'm sure you will soon enough.
Have a great day, week, etc!
