As one user to the rest, may I suggest something?

Jeff - please feel free to edit this if I get it wrong...

Jeff has set up the default for these clogs as New. In other words, if you logout of the site and then log back in, you'll automatically see all the posts that you haven't yet read. This shouldn't be too big a problem for the dial-up users - as long as you close your browser at the end of your internet session (it won't work if you leave your browser up and just reconnect to the internet the next time you want on).

What I discovered was this: I posted a recipe to one of Lisa's earlier clogs. It's a sticky topic, but it's old. If you have your default view set to pull only 3 or 7 days of posts, you won't see the recipe post (or any other post that someone might make on older topics). Because people didn't like the sticky topics overwhelming their page, Jeff took away the coding that kept them at the top, no matter their age.

Well, I'm getting wordy, aren't I? I wanted to keep this short and sweet to make it easy to read and understand. Basically, here's the point: once every day or so, make sure you log out completely so that the next time you open up the clogs, you'll see all the new posts, regardless of whether they were made to earlier posts or recent ones.

DEV: Those Pesky Sticky Topics and Announcments!

I really should make this a sticky topic, now shouldn't I?

Since I've had several comments about the total number of Stickies and Announcements at the top of the list (regardless of search/tag parameters), I'm looking to implement a new method of viewing these objects.  The idea (at least for now), is that these items will show up only if they are new or have new comments.  So like any other announcement, once you read it and acknowledge it, it will go away unless something new has been added.

This leads me to my final concept of improvement for the site... Only showing New Posts.  I have yet to perfect this, but once I do, you will have the option of displaying ONLY new posts.  This goes along with the new "news reader" format and other future concepts.  Obviously, you guys will be the first to know once I get this working.

    Bugs, Bugs and More Bugs!

Sorry about all the issues as of late.  Like I said, the site is still not finished so please be patient while I continue to tweak.  I'm not sitting here pushing out bad code because I think it's funny.  I'm pushing out what I believe to be good code, but cannot possibly test all scenarios before hand.  So if you come across something, please either post a blog, or if that's not possible please just send me an email directly.  I'll get it fixed as soon as I can.

I've added some new features in along with the bugs.

You now have a Priority drop list that will allow you to categorize your posts even more.  Normal topic is the default.  Sticky Topic will take your post and place it at the top of the blog sort list regardless of date posted.  Announcements are more for me to let you guys know of something important (normally site related).  These will also stay at the top of the list.  Sticky topics are useful for things like Polls, where you don't want the post to get lost in the shuffle as more people post.  This way it stays at the top until the poll is completed.  Cool, huh?

Anyway, keep those bug reports coming.  I know I'm not done yet.  It comes with the territory.

I'm not sure why you ended up with six copies of your comment Lisa, but I don't believe it's any issue any more.  Heatherdawn has posted multiple blogs and comments tonight and not had any further problems.  But I guess time and testing will determine the truth.

Gotta run, but I'll probably be around for a bit more this evening if you run across anything.

Anyone want to pitch in and get G&G P an early Christmas present?  Just a thought.  It would be really neat to get more of relatives on here that we don't get to talk to as much.  And I know with Grandpa being home a lot, it might provide a great avenue just to keep up with what's going on as well as maybe even post.
